Latin America's leader in whole grain processing is also competing for the Fi Innovation Awards and aiming to win yet another prize.


São Paulo, August 2024 – SL Alimentos announces its participation in Food Ingredients South America 2024, taking place from August 6th to 8th at the São Paulo Expo in the capital of São Paulo.


Considered the largest innovation event in ingredients in South America, the company expects to welcome visitors to its booth who are looking to incorporate health, indulgence, and sustainability into their products. "Being at FiSA for yet another year demonstrates our commitment to the most innovative and ecologically responsible in the healthy food segment. Among other novelties, we are producing, in co-manufacturing, the first upcycled certified food product in Brazil," comments Roberta Meneghel, CEO of SL Alimentos.


A leader in whole grain processing in Brazil, the Paraná-based company will also bring to the event its portfolio of plant-based, sustainable, and clean label ingredients aimed at human food and animal nutrition, highlighting the new SL BiOats Powder and SL BiOats Protein Crispies, which are competing for the "Most Innovative Ingredient" award at the 2024 Fi Innovation Awards.


SL BiOats Powder stands out for its proprietary flour modification process and its versatility in application. It can be used in the baking, confectionery, and sauce industries, and especially as a milk substitute, without losing its sensory characteristics. SL BiOats Protein Crispies, on the other hand, stands out for the use of concentrated oat and rice protein in its composition, resulting in high nutritional and protein value. It can be used in granolas, cereal bars, chocolates, and cookies, or even consumed as a snack.


In the competition that will elect the ingredients that best meet the "Innovation in Sustainability" criteria, the company hopes to repeat the feat of 2023 – when it was ranked first with Caupi Bean Concentrated Protein – by presenting SL GlucOAT Syrup, an upcycled oat syrup made from by-products of whole oat processing with fibers and proteins in its composition.
